Late-night poker is set to make a comeback

Late Night Poker, the show that helped launch a new generation of players in the UK captivated by the antics of ‘Devilfish’ and the original ‘Hendon Mob’, could make a TV return if Rob Yong gets his way …

I asked Simon Trumper to bring a version of Late Night Poker back to DTD in 2022.

A mix of old golds, qualifying spots and maybe a few wizards, stream every round on the new DTD TV setup.

Yong, the owner of Dusk Till Dawn arcade in Nottingham, was quickly inundated with a list of who fans and gamers want to see when the hugely popular show reboots.

Irish pro Padraig Parkinson, who scooped the £50,000 top prize for winning LNP Season 5, tweeted his old-school wishlist, which included Tony G, Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu, Jennifer Tilly and Victoria Coren Mitchell…

For many, the ultimate Late Night Poker icon was Dave “Devilfish” Ulliott, who won the inaugural LNP Season 1 title in 1999. A former career criminal, the “Devilfish” went on to win the WSOP titles and WPT and became a business. fan favorite, but sadly passed away in 2015.

Yong tweeted, “Unfortunately – the devil can’t come but he has a bar at the club named after him – I’m sure he supports that in spirit.”

Simon Trumper, who was tasked with bringing Late Night Poker back to our television screens, won season two and finished second in season four. He later commentated alongside Jesse May on LNP’s spin-off series Late Night Poker Ace.

The shows were a mainstay of early Channel 4 releases in the UK and used the ‘closed board camera’ invented by Henry Orenstein – the prolific inventor who recently died aged 98.

The hole card camera allowed fans to see players’ cards as they watched the often intense poker games, with Late Night Poker fostering the “underground” feel of seedy, smoky action behind the scenes.
