Phil Hellmuth is he the greatest poker player of all …

It is high time that we organized the GOAT (Greatest of All-Time) debate in the world of poker, like other sports and disciplines. Who is the greatest poker player of all time? In reality, this is an impossible question to answer precisely. At the end of his career, even being considered for such a title is an honor in itself. A worthy player for this conversation is Phil hellmuth.

Recently, Phil Hellmuth emerged victorious in the $ 1,500 No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw held in Las Vegas, extending his record with his 16th World Series of Poker gold bracelet. This victory sparked debates about GOAT poker online. Hellmuth is also the all-time winner WSOP, conceding 153 times and in the final table 70 times. Hellmuth is the only player to have won the two main WSOP events in Europe and the United States. He has had tremendous success in WSOP events, and his track record is second to none. Hellmuth has a total of $ 25,411,159 in his live career earnings, according to Hendon mob.

Criteria

What basis should we use to declare a greatest player of all time? In poker, is it the bracelets, the money or the longevity of his career? When it comes to money, Phil Hellmuth doesn’t even come close to sniffing the top 10 on the all-time payout list.

The table below shows the ranking of players in the All-Time Money List.

1

Bryn kenney

$ 56,403,505

2

Justin bonomo

$ 55,153,236

3

Daniel Negreanu

$ 43,827,876

4

David Peters

$ 38,279,171

5

Erik Seidel

$ 37,947,315

Can you be the GOAT in poker if you don’t make it to the top 10 winners list? Money runs the show in the poker world, and it’s hard to dispute. The majority of Kenney’s career income comes from high-profile games. Arguably his very high level gaming wins are not enough to qualify him to be considered an all-time greats.

Online poker

Hellmuth has never been unable to translate its success in live poker gaming into the online sphere. Most of his detractors claim he is a one-dimensional poker player and will be crushed online even in the midst of betting by GTO maniacs. In a heads-up match, his live-action counterpart Daniel Negreanu was destroyed by Doug Polk, one of the best online poker players in the world, and lost $ 1.2 million. Hellmuth is a great player, but he probably wouldn’t compete with the best online poker players outside of a physical casino, as they will demolish him on virtual felt.

Verdict

Hellmuth is the undisputed GOAT of the WSOP. His illustrious career spanning four decades is nothing short of spectacular. He is the only player to win bracelets in the 80s, 90s, 00s and even recently in 2021. His lack of success in online poker somewhat taints his resume. Hellmuth’s emotional outbursts, his denigrating his opponents, his outbursts are some of the traits that have earned him the nickname “Poker Brat”. It is difficult to manage, especially at the poker tables. Regardless of his antics, his accomplishments speak for themselves.

Hellmuth has had remarkable achievements in the WSOP and has managed to have a long and successful career. Despite all of these achievements, he still has room for improvement to be considered the greatest of all time.

Hellmuth isn’t the only player to earn the GOAT title. Phil Ivey has an even stronger record than him. Gaming legends like Doyle Brunson, among others, are also worth mentioning.
